Make your smart phone smarter

Two years ago, I finally caved in and purchased an iPhone. Over time, I learned how to use other features besides email and chat, and now I can’t imagine how I survived without it. What I didn’t realize, however, was how valuable my iPhone could be for doctors.

Using My Smart Phone as a Health Tool
Call it bad luck or maybe bad genes, but I constantly sprain my right ankle. It has gotten to the point where I am on a first name basis with several urgent care physicians in my area and can mentally outline what my care plan is going to look like. Last year however, my luck changed, and the swelling did not go away.

Before each appointment, I would arm myself with the pictures I took on my iPhone to show each specialist the progression of my injury between visits. Eventually, I had surgery to fix my ankle. But looking back, I am certain that had I been able to share those images with my doctors sooner, I would have saved myself a tremendous amount of pain and inconvenience waiting for appointments, and ultimately, surgery.

Compliance Risks and New Patient Demands
I am not alone. In fact, according to InfieldHealth¹, over 95 million Americans use smart devices as health tools to share information with their doctors. Patients, like me, are demanding easier ways to interact with their physicians that do not require making an appointment and waiting days – if not weeks – to be seen. This new reality presents a significant compliance risk as hospitals face millions of dollars in fines for breaches of patient information.

The Solution: Mobile Image Capture
Mobile image capture can be used to address these issues, reducing liability and improving the patient experience in areas such as EHR record integration, post-operative wound management, eConsults, and eVisits, to name a few. It can also help alleviate compliance concerns and enhance patient care by turning smartphones into very smart phones.

With this end in mind, we have partnered with ImageMoverMD™ to provide a seamless image workflow solution that connects medical images with enterprise imaging solutions and EHR systems for a fully integrated experience.

Watch our on-demand educational webinar to learn how mobile image capture removes the stress of capturing and sharing images so you can focus on what’s most important – patients, like me.
