Artificial Intelligence Solutions

Expanding the physician's view

Thanks to technological advancements and great strides in related research, imaging precision has improved dramatically in recent years.

The result has been exponential growth in medical imaging data and a growing number of images per exam, paired with a downward trend in reimbursements per procedure and heightened demand for efficiency and quality.

We are taking the Watson Health Imaging artificial intelligence suite of solutions to market to enhance and expand the capabilities of medical imaging technology that help physicians provide better patient care. These solutions are intended to analyze structured and unstructured data, sometimes existing in disparate silos, and aim to present medical information in a contextually relevant format to provide objective diagnostic recommendations in a probability-driven manner.

Watson Imaging Clinical Review

Watson Imaging Clinical Review is a cognitive data review tool designed to enable discrepancy reconciliation between a patient’s clinical diagnosis and his or her administrative records. This solution aims to help hospitals create a more accurate patient record by applying Watson technology to improve clinical documentation.

Read and
Understand Data
Read and understand both structured and unstructured data to extract meaningful information for use by clinical informatics, medical coding, and quality professionals within a health system.

Compare the clinical report with the EMR problem list and recorded diagnosis to retrospectively identify incomplete or incorrect documentation.

Enable Reconciliation of Discrepancies
Uncover inconsistencies in patient data records and empower users to input the most accurate information back into the EMR to support timely and accurate care decisions by healthcare providers.
Today Watson Imaging Clinical Review supports aortic stenosis and we expect to expand its cognitive text analytics capabilities to include other conditions.

Anticipated future capabilities are aspirational only and represents a vision of a possible future technology, which is not available for any commercial or non-commercial use and has not been evaluated by any regulatory agencies (such as USFDA) for safety, efficacy or performance. The development, release, and timing of any future features or functionality described for our products are subject to change or withdrawal without notice at IBM’s sole discretion.

Expanding the role of radiology in patient care

We aim to expand the physician’s view by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to search and quickly interpret billions of data points - both text and image data - within the patient’s EMR, across other patient similar cases, and across the most up-to-date medical research.

What Our Clients Say

“I think Watson is going to revolutionize not only radiology, but all of medicine. It’s going to allow us to gain insight into our patients in a way that we’ve never had before.”
Alexander J. Towbin, MD, Associate Chief of Operations, Radiology and Informatics, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center
